Carlos Nazareno, an interactive media specialist and digital artist from the Philippines, came to Het Nieuwe Instituut in February 2020 for an expert meeting and a visit to the National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning. The visit was realised in collaboration with XPUB, the  Piet Zwart Institute's experimental publishing programme.

Nazareno has been working with web and new media technologies since 1997. He specialises in web, rich media, and casual game development. In his spare time, Nazareno champions local ICT advocacies. He is the director for rights at Democracy.Net.PH, a Philippine ICT rights, development, governance and security advocacy group. In addition to this, he is a member of the Consortium on Democracy and Disinformation, a network of journalists, academics, bloggers, and other independents that seeks to promote democracy and fight disinformation. He is also a member of the Wiki Society of the Philippines and has been an active Wikipedia volunteer editor for almost a decade, focusing on fighting historical negationism as well as political propaganda and disinformation.
